Tenpin
We have six dedicated tenpin lanes and four dual purpose tenpin/skittles lanes. These lanes are fully automated and are cleaned and dressed daily. The Club took delivery of a Brunswick MAX Lane Machine in the spring of 2020 so we can deliver superior performance, reliability, and consistency across all our lanes and to ensure players have optimum playing conditions.
For younger or less experienced tenpin players automatic bumpers are available to keep the balls on the lanes and keep players’ enthusiasm up until more proficiency is gained.
Members are encouraged to join any of the several adult and / or junior tenpin leagues, which play on most evenings, some afternoons and at weekends – so you should be able to find at least one that suits. Details of these are posted on the notice boards. Our leagues are always on the lookout for new players of any standard from beginner up to international class.
Please note: non-members are not permitted to participate in tenpin leagues.
You do not need to join a tenpin league, however, as social bowling is actively encouraged in the club. We run fun tournaments throughout the year and we would love you to participate in these. Details of these events are advertised periodically on the notice boards and on this site.
We also have locker facilities for those members who wish to store their own tenpin equipment at the club, though these are generally in short supply. Should you wish to have a locker please contact the Club secretary by email at thesecretary@murrayfieldindoorsportsclub.co.uk or drop a note in the Club’s office mail box. If no locker is available your name will be put on the waiting list.

The highest possible score in a game of tenpin is 300, achieved by bowling 12 strikes in a row in a traditional single game: one strike in each of the first nine frames, and three more in the tenth frame. Because a strike counts as ten pins plus any pinfall in the next two balls, 30 points are possible in each frame.
Very few bowlers will achieve this ‘perfect’ game in their lifetime, but here at our relatively unknown Edinburgh Club, we have been fortunate enough to witness a few:
